Radzen Studio is a desktop low-code tool that lets you create line-of-business applications in a short time.

Radzen Studio is a rapid application development solution that creates Blazor and Angular web applications connected to local databases or RESTful services.

Radzen’s UI is divided into a few so-called screens – a specific UI that allows doing different development tasks.

Radzen Studio

Radzen Studio is powered by well-known open-source technologies – ASP.NET Core, Blazor, Angular, Bootstrap, and TypeScript.

It is possible to run Radzen apps directly from Visual Studio Professional or Visual Studio code.

Radzen applications have two layers:

  • Angular application – is a client-side SPA (single-page application) that runs in your users’ browsers. It supports responsive web design, making it fit various device sizes – desktop, tablet, and mobile.
  • .NET Core application – This optional server-side .NET Core application exposes your MS SQL, MySQL, Oracle, or PostgreSQL databases as OData services. OData is an open protocol that serves data in JSON format over RESTful API.

The .NET Core application also handles application security (authentication and authorization).

By default, it creates code for your application pages and data sources (Angular components, OData controllers, and model classes).

If you want to tweak the code, you can do so in one of two ways:

  • Following the Radzen extensibility rules and writing your custom code in the provided extensibility hooks listed later in this article.
By adding the file(s), you want to modify in Radzen’s code generation ignore list. This section shows how this is done.
  • You can add a certain file, list of files, or entire directories to Radzen ’s code generation ignore list by going to the application settings. Then add a list of files or directories separated by a new line in the Code generation ignore list textbox.

To change the appearance of Radzen Studio, go to its settings – click the settings button in the top right corner of Radzen Studio.
When you are in the application settings, click the Customize theme button. The theme customization dialog appears, and you can set different theme properties – colors, borders, etc. When you are done with the changes, close the theme dialog and save the application settings. Radzen Studio will create a new CSS file with your personalizations and preview them in design time.

If you press the Customize theme button for the first time, Radzen Studio loads the visual configuration of the current application theme. All settings available in the dialog will populate with default values.

The theme dialog lets you set configuration options grouped into General and Components categories.
