Ksdev Fmxlinux

FireMonkey for Linux, also called FMXLinux, is an add-on component offered to Delphi and RAD Studio Enterprise and Architect edition customers through an exclusive OEM agreement with FMXLinux. FMXLinux offers the ability to build GUI applications for Linux, extending RAD Studio’s (Delphi Edition) FireMonkey cross-platform framework.

Starting with 10.3.1, the FireMonkey for Linux (FMX) client add-on is available for Delphi and RAD Studio Enterprise customers currently on Update Subscription through the RAD Studio GetIt Package Manager in the IDE.

This is a set of tools that enables the development of Linux applications using Embarcadero’s RAD Studio and FireMonkey framework. It allows developers to create cross-platform applications that can run on both Windows and Linux systems. KSDev is likely the company or individual behind the development of FMXLinux, providing a solution for Delphi and C++Builder developers to extend their applications to the Linux platform.

This cross-platform capability is valuable for businesses or developers who want to reach a broader audience by supporting multiple operating systems. It streamlines the development process, allowing for code reuse and faster time-to-market for Linux versions of applications originally built for Windows or other platforms.

This product is a combination of two major components:

  • Runtime: Brand-new implementations of FireMonkey for Linux, tightly integrated with the native Linux runtime.
  • Design Time Management: An IDE expert who allows adding a Linux platform to the FMX project and setting it up with FmxLinux.

Unsupported Linux:

FMXLinux doesn’t work properly on some Linux distros. Here is the list:

  • AstroLinux Smolensk 1.6 because of the non-standard version of GTK+ (Works fine on AstroLinux CE)
  • ElementatyOS because of an issue with the GTK+ app and Pantheon desktop

Requirements:

It requires Embarcadero Delphi with a Linux development add-on. It has worked with all Delphi versions since Tokyo.
